User Rules

1.
All rules apply to in-room activity, public chat messages, private messages with members, the user’s profile picture, Discord status, Discord bio and username.

2.
Breaking any rule may result in an instant and permanent ban from the platform, and can happen without a warning.

3.
Ban or timeout evasion, through the creation of a new account or cross-platform (Discord and web app), is prohibited and will result in a permanent ban of all the user’s accounts.

4.
Staff members reserve the right to take any action they deem appropriate to uphold the rules at all times. Should you wish to query a moderation decision, please get in touch with the team privately by filling out the form contact.

5.
If you study on Discord, follow the Discord Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

6.
You cannot use the Study Together Discord server if you are under 13 years old or under the minimum age of digital consent in your country.

7.
Advocate for and encourage the rules.

8.
Do not misuse the user report system to send spam, file fake reports, or make false allegations against others.

👤 USER PRIVACY

9.
No phishing of private information.

10.
Do not record, screenshot, or take photos of others in the study session.

11.
Do not share private information of others without their permission.

12.
Do not publish any form of personal or identifying information.

13.
No impersonation of staff or other members.

📚 STUDY ROOM RULES

14.
No disruptive noises. Keep your microphone muted or reduce the amount of background noise.

15.
Have proper video calling and screensharing etiquette. No smoking, vaping, use of alcohol or drugs. No revealing clothes, inappropriate sitting postures, artificial filters, or masks and inappropriate face accessories (excluding medical masks). Maintain clear lighting and do not stream distracting content.

💬 CHAT RULES

16.
Keep conversations study-related in the study chats. Non-study chats like #general, #memes, etc channel chats on Discord are excluded from this rule.

17.
Maintain a positive general atmosphere in chat. Negative thoughts should be kept low.

18.
No suicidal references or jokes. The community consists of students, please contact a mental health professional if you think you require help or someone to talk to.

19.
No swearing or cursing.

20.
No spamming. No excessive messaging or walls of text. No overusing emojis.

21.
No unnecessary pings in chat, people are most likely studying.

⭐️ GENERAL RULES

Agree to disagree.

No trolling.

No direct or indirect self-promotion. This also applies to an obvious Discord status/bio on the Discord server.

25.
No direct or indirect promotion of paid tuition services.

26.
Uphold academic integrity. No promotion or participation in cheating or “do my homework” services.

27.
No irrelevant or unwelcome DMs to others.

28.
No creeping on-server or in-DMs on both the webapp as Discord. This is a study community, not a dating website.

29.
No harassment. No verbal abuse, insults or threats towards others. No personal attacks.

30.
No offensive or derogatory content.

31.
No discriminatory content. No hate speech against a particular age, race or gender.

32.
No NSFW (not safe for work) or sexually explicit content.

33.
No NSFL (not safe for life) or disturbing content.

34.
No discussion, display or promotion of firearms and weapons.

35.
No discussion, display or promotion of recreational drugs.
